Empowering Generations: The Legacy of Lena Young Green

The Tampa Heights Junior Civic Association, founded in 1998 by Lena Young Green, has been a cornerstone in nurturing community connections and family engagement in Tampa. Growing up in Belize, Lena imbued deep-seated values of community involvement which she passionately passed down. Today, her granddaughter, Nyla, advances this legacy as the executive director, expanding the organization's impact through diverse programs for children and families. Their efforts shine in afterschool and summer programs, community classes, and special events, collectively fostering a strong community spirit.
