Jason Heyward Baseball Academy: Empowering Chicago Youth

In Chicago, opportunities for inner-city youth to participate in organized sports have historically been limited due to high costs and lack of facilities. Former Chicago Cubs World Series champion Jason Heyward is working to change that narrative. Partnering with Intentional Sports founder Andy McDermott, Heyward helped launch the Jason Heyward Baseball Academy on Chicago's West Side. This massive 152,000-square-foot facility provides children with affordable access to high-quality sports training from experienced coaches, including former professional athletes. Beyond teaching the fundamentals of baseball and soccer, the academy focuses on essential life skills such as leadership, mental toughness, and overcoming failure. Heyward remains deeply involved in the day-to-day mission, proving to be a true everyday hero by giving back to the community and offering a safe, supportive environment for the next generation.
