Celebrating Native American War Hero Charles Norman Shay

Charles Norman Shay, a Native American from Bristol, Connecticut, recently celebrated his 100th birthday, marking a century of a remarkable life. At 19, Shay was drafted into the military and served as a medic during World War II. His bravery was evidenced in numerous battles, including Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge, where he saved numerous lives and was later awarded the Silver Star and three Bronze Stars. Despite his achievements, Shay humbly credits his fellow soldiers, many of whom did not return home.
